HOW TO FILE FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

For information purpose only

Florida's homestead exemptions allow homeowners to reduce by $25,000 the value on which property taxes are levied. To qualify as of December 31nd. you must reside on the property and be a legal resident of the State of Florida. Applications for homestead exemption are accepted January 2nd until March 1st. If you are a new homeowner who qualifies you need to register. To register bring: social security number for all owners who reside on the property. Tax bill ordered in your name, Florida driver's license, Florida car registration. And Florida voter registration card. If you are a non-US citizen, you must bring your resident alien card. If the title is held in trustee the trust document must be produced.

Once registered there is no need to renew the exemption.
